Abstract

The purpose of this essay is to draw parallels between the story told by Dickens in Hard Times and legal education regarding the importance of the Law & Literature movement for the development of a more constitutionally considered legal system. In this sense, the main scope was to analyze the importance in the legal teaching of Law & Literature from the work Hard Times, by Charles Dickens. As specific objectives, it was intended to make a summary of the work, then draw parallels between the children of Mr. Gradgrind, Louisa and Thomas, with legal positivism, and between Sissy Jupe and law and literature and, finally, to verify the importance of Law and Literature for the legal system. To this end, the hermeneutic-phenomenological approach methodology is used, such as procedural, comparative and Law & Literature methodologies and documental and bibliographic research techniques
