Abstract

The present work deals with the construction of "maternity" throughout history, the emergence of the concept of maternal love, as well as the romanticization of maternity seen in Art and in media, reflecting on the implications in the field of Law. The book O peso do pássaro morto, by Aline Bei, is explored for bringing the rupture of the romanticized vision of maternity. The research problem object of investigation is "How does the romanticization of maternity brought in Literature and Art influence the understanding of what it is to be a mother and reflects on women's rights and on how the State deals with maternity?" The general objective is to demonstrate the romanticization of motherhood in Art and the media. The specific objective is to analyze Law and Literature from the point of view of maternity and how this areas are related. The research is bibliographic and the approach methods used were historical and deductive. It was concluded that the idealization of what it is to be a mother and the intangible standards imposed on women in contemporaneity perpetuated by Art and the media, reach the sphere of Law and curtail women's autonomy and their sexual and reproductive rights.
