Abstract

The work "The Other Side of the Skin" (2020), portrays, in its plurality, the violence that surrounds the bodies marked with signs of oppression, especially racism, in its various nuances. In the emblematic context of erasure of minorities in a country marked by racism, the literary novel sheds light on the pillars of inequality and how abandonment - political, social, and affective - constructs the subjectivities of individuals. Thus, the research highlights how identity cleavages influence the criminalization process and cross police actions and/or operations, fostering the identification and the genocide of the killable bodies. To do so, it uses the inductive method and related arguments, employing the analysis of bibliographies and empirical studies. As a result, it was verified that the dialogue of Critical Criminology with Intersectionality allows for an expansion in the criminological field and favors the understanding of how cleavages are reflected and reproduced in the mechanisms of criminal law, especially in police activity.
