Abstract

ABSTRACT: The danger of a single history, imposed by the victors and neglecting the voice of the Other, is a concern that plagues disciplines such as History, Sociology, Political Science, Law, among other areas of knowledge. In this context, Literature stands out here as a non-place of hope and resistance, offering welcome to the marginalized. This study, based on research by the group "Direito, literatura e reinvenções simbólicas do território: diálogos em tempos neoliberais", coordinated by Prof. Dr. Bernardo Gomes Barbosa Nogueira, analyzes the dangers of the single narrative, demonstrating how Literature can tell those who are extirpated from official history. Using the work "Nas Terras do Rio Sem Dono" as an example, we will explore how literature can give voice to the silenced, providing a place of hospitality for everyone, regardless of their origin. Through a bibliographical review, we examine the effects of silencing vulnerable groups in official history, investigating literature's capacity to welcome the Other, as argued by Derrida and in Nogueira's doctoral thesis, being, therefore, a neoliberal non-place.
