OUR WOMEN'S HISTORY: A BRIEF PERSPECTIVE OF FEMINISTS MOVEMENTS BASED ON THE NOVELS A FALÊNCIA AND A VIDA INVISÍVEL DE EURÍDICE GUSMÃO.

Abstract

This essay aims to revisit the female characters from the books A falência (The Bankruptcy) by Júlia Almeida, and A vida invisível de Eurídice Gusmão (The invisible life of Eurídice Gusmão) by Martha Batalha, using as a starting point the critiques that were being raised by the movements fighting for women’s rights at the time the narratives were contextualised. For the purpose of this essay, a qualitative research was carried out, involving a bibliographic review of the main feminist books and feminists players who fought for women’s rights in the period between the end of the 19th century and mid of the 20th century, in the attempt to demonstrate the influence of feminist movements and of the advance of the women’s rights in the construction of female characters in the Brazilian literature, notably from the 19th century.
