THE RIGHT TO SAY EVERYTHING AND DEMOCRACY AS A FUTURE TO COME: ENSAIO A PARTIR DE JACQUES DERRIDA

Abstract

This article discusses literature`s freedom of expression and Derrida`s deconstruction thinking about it, especially, through his book This Strange Institution Called Literature. It brings together the right to say everything of literature and the irresponsibility of literary writing against ideological, political and legal powers. To make this discussion, It summon two books: Divórcio (Divorce), by Ricardo Lísias, and Diários de Cadeia (The Prison Diaries), by Eduardo Cunha (pseudonym) relating them with Jacques Derrida's understanding of literature and democracy to come. It will defend a greater freedom of expression in literature. While a strange institution, capable of suspending its laws, Literature assumes a place of non-place, without essence or identity. It is capable of express and question everything, and, at the same time, It is capable to be neutralized by its fictionality. Because of this, the writer must not account for his thinking or writing in the face of the constituted powers and so, the literature assumes a bigger plot in Derrida`s democracy to come.
